A typical vision of a Habitat for Humanity volunteer involves a person wearing a hard hat swinging a hammer on a construction site. While that type of volunteer is extremely important, there are a multitude of other types of volunteer positions just as crucial to allowing families to partner with Habitat to build decent and affordable homes.
This is the story of how we created a do it yourself (DIY) tiki torch from a pair of snow skis. It’s also the story of my husband’s first time in a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and how shopping at a ReStore can lead to unique projects you might not otherwise have thought of.
Spring is here, and DIY makeover ideas are springing up like crazy in my brain.
So when I spied a few rows of wood chairs at the Habitat for Humanity Bucks County ReStore, my DIY day was made. I knew I could turn one of them into a DIY planter for new flowers to liven up my porch.
